چکیده

Due to substantial mixed analog-digital circuit integration in one chips CMOS digital imager cannot be considered only as a photoelectric transducer. In this paper, we have identzjied timing and circuit layout considerations that are critical for implementing a digital CMOS camera-on-a-chip. An optimized binaryscaled tree-topology power routing has been shown to be critical for minimizing chip area and providing low spatial pattern noise. Imaging artifacts due to timing asymmetry has been quantijied, and methodr for elimination of the artifacts have been demonstrated. The impact of on-chip bias-generation and drive circuits on the on-chip ADC performance has been shown. New timing and circuit layout techniques has been presented for enabling random noise limited performance of a

Design of a Fuzzy Controller Chip with New Structure, Supporting Rational-Powered Membership Functions

In this paper, a new structure possessing the advantages of low-power consumption, less hardware and high-speed is proposed for fuzzy controller. The maximum output delay for general fuzzy logic controllers (FLC) is about 86 ns corresponding to 11.63 MFLIPS (fuzzy logic inference per second) while this amount of the delay in the designed fuzzy controller becomes 52ns that corresponds to 19.23 M...

A CMOS Imager for Time-of-Flight and Photon Counting Based on Single Photon Avalanche Diodes and In-Pixel Time-to-Digital Converters

The design of a CMOS image sensor based on single-photon avalanche-diode (SPAD) array with in-pixel time-to-digital converter (TDC) is presented. The architecture of the imager is thoroughly described with emphasis on the characterization of the TDCs array. It is targeted for 3D image reconstruction. Several techniques as fast quenching/recharge circuit with tunable dead-time and time gated-ope...

CMOS Image Sensor using Delta-Sigma Modulation

A CMOS image sensor ADC using delta-sigma modulation is presented and discussed. Experimental results from a test chip are presented. The experimental results show that the proposed ADC has several benefits over the use of pipeline ADCs including noise reduction, fast design times, ease with which to maximize ADC output based on a varying input range, and simple symmetric analog routing for lar...

An interline CCD imaging array with on-chip A/D conversion

In this paper we describe an interline CCD imaging array which features high-speed, on-chip, parallel A/D conversion. In addition, we present test results from fabricated devices. The imaging chip was fabricated through MOSIS in a double-poly 2:0m CCD/CMOS technology on a chip with total area 2:25mm 2:22mm. The chip is composed of two components, namely, a 28 39 pixel, interline imaging array a...
